Edward I (Longshanks) King of England was born June 17, 1239 in Westminster Palace.1 He was the son of Henry III King of England and Eleanor of Provence.1 He married Eleanor of Castile, daughter of Ferdinand III King of Castile and Jeanne Countess of Ponthieu, in October, 1254 in Santa Maria la Real de Huelgas.1 He married Marguerite of France, daughter of Philip III the Bold King of France and Mary of Brabant, on September 10, 1299 in Canterbury, Cathedral. He died on July 7, 1307 in Burgh-by-Sands, Cumberland, England, at age 68.1 He was buried in Westminster Abbey.1

He reigned 35 years from 1272 to 1307.
