Mathieu de Flandre was born 1137. He was the son of Thierry Count of Flanders. He married Marie of Boulogne, daughter of Stephen King of England and Matilda I of Boulogne, about 1160. He died on December 25, 1173 in Battle of Driencourt.
Mathieu de Flandre was also known as Matthew of Alsace. The marriage of Mathieu de Flandre and an unknown person was annulled between 1169 and 1170.
