Edward the Confessor King of England was born about 1002 in Islip, Oxfordshire, England. He was the son of Ethelred II the Unready King of Kent and Emma of Normandy. He married Edith (Eadgyth), daughter of Godwin Earl of Wessex and Gytha, on January 23, 1045. He died on January 5, 1066. He was buried on January 6, 1066 in Westminster, Abbey, London, England.
