Baldwin III Count of Flanders was born 940. He was the son of Arnulf I Count of Flanders and Adele of Vermandois. He married Matilda of Savoy, daughter of Hermann Bilung Margrave of Saxony. He died in 972.

Baldwin ruled alongside his father from 958 as Baldwin III, Count of Flanders. In the 950's he married Matilda of Saxony and they had one child who was Arnulf II, Count of Flanders.1
