Catherine of Braganza was born November 25, 1638 in Vila Vicosa, Lisbon, Portugal. She was the daughter of John IV the Fortunate King of Portugal and Luiza Maria de Guzman. She married Charles II King of England, son of Charles I King of England and Henrietta Maria of France, on May 20, 1662 in Portsmouth, England. She died on December 31, 1705 in Bemposta, Palace, Lisbon, Portugal, at age 67. She was buried in Belem.
