Matilda of Flanders was born about 1031 in Flanders, France.1 She was the daughter of Baldwin V Count of Flanders and Adela of France, Countess of Flanders.1,2 She married William I the Conqueror King of England, son of Robert the Devil Duke and Herleva, in 1053.1 She died on November 2, 1083 in Caen.1 She was buried in Holy Trinity Abbey, Caen.1
