Francis I King of France was born September 12, 1494 in Cognac, France. He was the son of Charles of Valois Count Angouleme and Louise of Savoy. He married Claude of France, daughter of Louis XII King of France and Anne of Brittany, on May 18, 1514. He married Eleanor of Austria, daughter of Philip I the Handsome King of Castile and Joanna the Mad (Juana), on July 8, 1530. He died on March 31, 1547 in Rambouillet, France, at age 52. He was buried in St. Denis, France.
