Josiah Dobbs was born in 1804 in Georgia. He was the son of Josiah Dobbs and Luzanna. He married Elizabeth Prothro, daughter of Nathaniel Prothro and Zilphia Morgan, on November 18, 1830 in Elbert County, Georgia.1 He died about 1855 in Cobb County, Georgia.2
Josiah Dobbs was also known as Joseph Dobbs. The 1848 tax records of Cobb County, GA, show Josiah with 10 slaves. By 1851, he lived in the Big Shanty (now Kennesaw) District and owned 11 slaves and 240 acres.
